WTO Releases New Report on Preferential Trade Agreements with Services Provisions
The WTO recently released a new report evaluating the services commitments in 40 preferential trade agreements (PTAs) that entered into force and were notified to the WTO between 2000 and mid-2007.  The WTO's analysis scores commitments on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 representing full commitments across all sub-sectors under two modes of supply: mode 1 (cross-border) and mode 3 (supply through a commercial presence abroad). The PTA data is also compared with those countries' current GATS commitments.
